IT Programme

Software

Our full degree Software apprenticeship roles involve working to design, develop, implement, test and support software applications that help BT to run its networks and systems. This could include anything from working on web applications, apps for smart phones and tablets or on BT’s internal systems. Regardless of the type of software role you do, at BT, you’ll get to experience the full deployment process in a large corporate environment.

During the apprenticeship you will work towards a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions

Entry requirements

Full Degree

You will need to achieve (or have achieved) 3 A-Level's with a minimum of BCC grades by September 2018. In addition you will need to have a minimum of 4 GCSE's at grades 4 – 9 (GCSE C or above) including English Language and Maths.

Higher

You will need to achieve (or have achieved) 2 A-Level's with a minimum of CC grades by September 2018. In addition you will need to have a minimum of 4 GCSE's at grades 4 – 9 (GCSE C or above) including English Language and Maths.

Equivalent qualifications are accepted. Please see the FAQ's section for details of the STEM subjects accepted for the full degree programmes.

Networks

BT’s network is at the heart of everything we do; from sending a text, to air traffic control. BT is an ever growing company which means our network is constantly evolving. Apprentices play a key part to ensure that our networks are designed, tested, built and maintained with fresh, new, innovative ideas in mind. There is a broad array of network roles within BT. As an apprentice network engineer you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in a number of areas including testing the latest networking technology, upgrading the existing network and the planning, installing and running of network elements.

Within the network apprenticeship, the roles are technically orientated. So, if you have an interest in what goes on 'behind the screen' and you have a real passion and drive to learn how it all works, networks is the place for you.

Entry requirements

Full Degree

TV and Digital Media

The TV & Digital Media roles will get you involved in the design, delivery and support of BT TV and all the associated systems that have to work together to provide a complete, end to end, TV service. You’ll also be working on the design, delivery and support of BT’s UK and Global Media Networks which carries content for customers such as the BBC, ITV & Star TV. During your apprenticeship with BT TV & Content you will rotate around a number of teams. This will ensure you gain a full understanding of the broadcasting and IPTV technologies you study as part of your honours degree, whilst also giving you an opportunity to understand what is involved in providing the very best service to our customers.

During the apprenticeship you will work towards a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions

Research and Innovation

Innovation is at the heart of BT’s business. Our Research and Innovation teams work at the cutting edge of new technologies, exploring how we and our customers can benefit from them. During your apprenticeship, you’ll work in a number of technical areas with our world-leading teams, helping to solve problems for our business and our customers. At the end of your apprenticeship you’ll be on your way to becoming an expert in your chosen specialism.

The academic partner for this apprenticeship is the University of Exeter, and apprentices will work towards an BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions, specialising in Data Analytics or Cyber Security. More information on this degree can be found on the University of Exeter website. 

Entry requirements

Full degree

You will need to achieve (or have achieved) 3 A-Levels with a minimum of AAB grades which must include one of the following subjects Maths, Physics, Computing, Electronics, Engineering by September 2018. In addition you will need to have a minimum of 6 GCSE's at grades 6 – 9 (GCSE B or above) including English Language and Maths and 2 additional STEM subjects.

Equivalent qualifications are accepted.

Digital Sales Team

The Digital Sales team sit within BT Consumer Marketing and Sales. The Digital Sales team is responsible for delivering digital broadband, TV, sport and mobile sales as well as a host of tier 2 products such as telephones, TV add-ons and hubs. The team is responsible for launching new products and propositions online, onsite optimisation, merchandising and supporting ATL and BTL marketing.

Digital is now the largest acquisition channel and continues to deliver record breaking sales performance. The aim is to continue this trajectory and drive to achieve the digital vision of being the largest most profitable channel. Digital Sales is committed to building a collaborative, supportive and high-performance culture, which we want you to be a part of.

You will have an appetite to learn, and an enthusiasm for all things digital. You will also be organised, self-disciplined and able to manage your time effectively.

During the first few months, you will be given a comprehensive understanding of the digital sales world. We’ll help you to get the most of you’ll role so you’ll be able to:

  • Delivering & merchandising deals and incentives onsite
  • Launch new deals and propositions
  • Support product roadmap with first-class digital customer experiences
  • Optimising the customer experience to improve conversion
  • Support traffic driving teams, including affiliates, biddable media and BTL & ATL marketing
  • Reporting and understanding trading performance, using sales reports, web analytics and insights tools
  • Ensure site updates are accurate, co-ordinating with QA team to deliver quality change
  • Work closely with E-commerce managers to understand their requirements and implement on site merchandising strategies

You will need to have a minimum of 4 GCSE's at grade C or above including English Language and Maths.
