Careers in Proposition and product management
Our proposition and product managers look at what our customers want, what our competitors are doing and what the latest technology can do. Then they marry those things together to come up with products and bundles of products that sell.
You’ll need to be versatile and confident dealing with every angle: from strategy and vision, product design, technology trials and talking to suppliers, to pricing, sales targets and delivery. And even after your propositions have launched, you’ll still looking for ways to make things even better for our customers.
James - Head of Propositions, BT Sport
I’m always looking to add compelling new content to our BT Sport line-up. Which sports would excite our viewers? How can I package it in a way to appeal to customers, existing or new? I’ll work on everything from coming up with a great offer to excite people, helping them understand all the different features they get depending on whether they’re watching on their TV, online, or via the app – and making sure all the marketing and PR razzamatazz delivers.
I’ll work with our own people, sports rights owners, and external agencies on the look and feel. I have to make sure everyone’s on the same page and that means being a real generalist and a networker.
Working at BT Sport means understanding our customers’ love of sport and the passion it inspires. It’s far more important than having a sports background or experience in TV.
Since I joined earlier this year, my focus has been almost entirely on our upcoming UEFA Champions League coverage. I’m excited by the scale and ambition shown by BT. We’re not afraid to take big risks. We’re a disrupter and we’re changing the way people have watched sport for decades.
I want to give people the best possible viewing experience – whatever they’re watching, wherever they are. Whether it’s a whole game or race live, or they just want to catch up with the highlights on their way home. Everyone’s different. We want to be the biggest and best and we’ll keep pushing to make that happen.
